Brace yourselves for a NEW race on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 5:00pm. Bring your food and drinks, we will have the grill going for a post-race BYOE party to celebrate the winners and mourn with the losers. Picture it: Unicorns, paddle boats, floats, kayaks, and even the Commodore's laundry (because why not?). Add water guns and a dash of "Sweet Baby Jesus Beer" as prizes for the winners and you have a recipe for unforgettable summertime fun.
The Captains' meeting will be at 5:00pm, and racing will follow the Captains' meeting!
The idea is this, everyone wants to race or watch a race but not everyone has a boat to race, correct?
So, this race series, we will have at least 3 or more classes for racing.
1. Pool floats... yes, if you use it in your pool then you can race it in this race!
2. Kayaks or canoes so all you paddlers can launch at the Boat Club, get wet, and race for prizes and glory!
3. The third class will be for something we did not think of because everyone is so creative in the Boat Club... so bring it and if it floats, we will get a class for it! In Car and Motorcycle racing this is called "Run what you Brung!"
But let us say you do not want to race!
We have a unique way for you to participate and be part of the race without racing! This is as rare as a Unicorn; in fact, you can ride a UNICORN! You can, with a small donation, ride in the Unicorn and get a close-up view of the racing. If you have a water pistol, then you can bring it on the Unicorn and as the racers pass you... well the rest is up to you.
After the race, we all will gather on the porch, enjoy the best sunset in Dunedin, and have a nice dinner.
BUT WAIT there is more! Thanks to a racing fan and prospective member from St Louis (Ted Sundhausen) we have a limited selection of Busch Bavarian Beer...Free in limited supply.

This event is being held earlier in the afternoon than in previous years to allow those folks who need to use the ferry to get to the Island, enjoy the event, and to have sufficient time to catch the last ferry back to Honeymoon. This also allows the day cruisers to have sufficient time to return to their home port safely in day light.
We will be at one of the 2 Pavilions across from docks. Look for the DBC burgee.
Starting around 1:30pm, we will gather and light the grill. Food servings should start some time around 2:00pm.
The “bonfire” will get started at dark for the folks staying over night.
Don’t forget to enjoy some beach time while on the Island.
The Commodore will be cooking and serving hamburgers, hot dogs, possibly sausages, chips, cookies, and maybe another side, no turkey or ham.
Sodas and water will be available.
Be advised that alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the Island.
