About Our Partners

Dunedin Youth Sailing Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008.

DYSA encourages participation in the sport of sailing as a community-based youth and adult sailing program. DYSA offers spring and fall sessions (ages 8 - 14), high school sailing (ages 14+), adult sailing and adult/teen wind surfing.

Sailability Greater Tampa Bay is an all-volunteer 501(c) 3, whose mission is to provide affordable, accessible, sailing activities and education to children and adults of all abilities, focusing on community integration to improve the quality of life for all involved.

We were born in 2001 with a commitment to establish an all-inclusive adaptive sailing program for physically challenged, cognitively impaired, and able bodied children and adults.

Since our inception, we have served a multitude of individuals with varying degrees of autism, neurological disorders, veterans with PTSD, limb different children and adults, just to name a few.

Through our monthly community sails, and other ongoing events, we serve upwards of 250 individuals a year. Our amazing volunteer staff, which includes Windlasses of Dunedin, Dunedin Boat Club members, members of the North Pinellas Women’s Club, as well as support from our Bright Future Scholars, have enabled us to touch the lives of many individuals in our community who might not have been able to be empowered by their experiences on the water.

We look forward to working with and growing our relationships with all of our community partners.

The Dunedin Windlasses is a not-for-profit women's sailing association founded in 1967. The group promotes interest in sailing and fosters sailing skills among its members. They sponsor and organize races, cruises, rendezvous, and other sailing events in Dunedin and St. Joseph Sound.

The Windlasses fleet, which consists of approximately 28 Optimist Prams and 8 Sunfish, is made up of city-owned boats used by members for races and day cruises to local spoil islands.

In addition to racing, the Windlasses offer an extensive educational program aimed at improving members' sailing and racing abilities. With a vibrant membership of around 145 women, the group hosts four racing series annually, along with special one-day races and cruises. In 2017, the Windlasses proudly celebrated their 50th year of camaraderie.

Dunedin Boat Club

Founded on September 3, 1929, the Dunedin Boat Club has been a cornerstone of the local boating community for nearly a century. The early members didn’t just sail the waters—they built the very foundation of the Club. They personally financed and constructed essential infrastructure for what became the Dunedin Marina; installing pilings, bulkheads, walkways, channel markers, running water, and electricity through a combination of fish fries, dances, raffles, and personal loans.

By 1933, with dreams of a true marina basin, the members made a bold move. To secure funding through the Public Works Program, they voted to relinquish private ownership of the marina, transferring it to the City of Dunedin in exchange for a long-term lease. With a permanent marina in place, the next step was creating a home for the Club. In 1936, members rolled up their sleeves and began construction on a clubhouse, built with their own hands and financial contributions.

The Dunedin Boat Club isn’t just about boats—it’s about community, history, and a shared love for the sea. We sponsor and support local charitable organizations and community activities such as the Holiday Lighted Boat Parade, and along with the Dunedin Rotary, the annual Flat's Fishing Tournament that raises thousands of dollars for local charities including: Dunedin Cares, Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, Friends of the Islands, DYSA, Sailability, the VFW, and many other local charities.
