Weedon Island Preserve - Mangrove Tunnels

This is a 3-4 mile path through large mangrove tunnels, with a 1 mile open water paddle back to the start point. Total trip: about 2.5 hours. If you’ve never been through the Weedon Island Mangroves, I highly recommend joining us. It’s a wonderful experience!

REGISTRATION:
Please register for this event using the blue "Register" button on this event page. All attendees are required to register. I will send information of changes only to those that have registered.
KAYAK RENTALS:
Single and tandem kayaks can be rented from Ecomersion at https://ecomersion.com/weedon-island-kayak-rentals/ Their phone is 727-509-7629. It is up to you to rent and to cancel (48 hour cancellation notice for full refund).
Rentals are a 10 minute paddle from the ‘launch your own’ site.
LAUNCH TIME:
Be ready to launch and paddle at 12:30 PM

DIRECTIONS:
- Travel east on Gandy Blvd (US92).
- After passing Derby Lane Greyhound Racing Track, turn right on San Martin Blvd. (There is also a brown sign indicating turn for Weedon Island Park.)
- Travel about one mile, and turn left on Weedon Dr.
- After entering park, follow main road to the end, which is where the boat launching area is located.
- If parking is crowded, uphill short distance is another parking lot.
