After several groundings on 11/29/13 at the normal entrance to Caladesi near marker 14 along the Dunedin Causeway at high tide we were successful in reaching the Caladesi entrance via the following alternate route from the mainland side.
You can leave the ICW between marker 9 and 10 and head west between 2 spoil islands. The southernmost island near marker 9 has no trees and is little more than an oyster bar. The northern island near marker 10 has trees. Although the chart shows 2-3 feet of water at MLW, at high tide, our 4.5 foot draft had nearly a foot of clearance. Here are the Lat/Lons:
