SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
JANUARY 21ST RACE
10AM
NORTH OF DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY
1. Rules
1.1 The race will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of
Sailing 2017-2020.
2. Notice to Competitors
2.1 Notice to competitors will be posted on the Dunedin Boat
Club’s web site.
3. Signals Made Ashore
3.1 There will be NO signals made ashore.
3.2 All signals will be on the racing section of the website of
Dunedin Boat Club.
4. Schedule of Races
4.1 There will be one race sailed
4.2 The scheduled time of warning signal will be 9:55am
4.3 There will be a loud horn signal one minute before the warning
signal to alert competitors that the starting sequence will begin.
5. Racing Area
5.1 Attached diagram shows area of racing which shall be between
Hurricane Pass and Anclote Key, both in the Gulf and Bay.
6. Marks
6.1 The marks of the race shall be government navigational marks: #37 in the
ICW, taken to port, #1 entrance to Anclote in the Gulf, taken to port, and #2 entrance
to Hurricane Pass, taken to starboard.
7. The Start
7.1 The starting sequence shall be 5 minutes.
7.2 The start line will be immediately northwest of marker 23, north of
Dunedin Causeway bridge.
7.3 The start line will be between an orange flag on the committee boat, a
Chaparral 31, Jaelyn’s Wish, and and orange ball.
8. Shortened Course
8.1 In the event of shortening of the course, the race
will be finished at the Anclote Key mark. This will be announce on
channel 72.
9. The Finish
9.1 A boat will be considered finished when they are within
10 feet aside of the mark and their bow has passed the mark in the
direction prescribed.
9.2 Upon finishing, as prescribed in 9.1, a competitor will
take their own finishing time according to their GPS. They will text this
to the race chairman by 6pm. at 727-510-9158
9.3 After finishing at Hurricane Pass, it is up to the individual
whether to continue through the pass or return to their port by another
direction.
10. Time Limit
10.1 The time limit shall be 5pm.
11. Communication
11.1 All communication will take place on channel 72
