Wow!
What a Weekend
This month
our cruise went to Anclote Island and was hosted by the Ritchie's and
the Graham's. They did a fabulous job.
Jim organized a wonderful tour
of ranger facilities and light house on Anclote Island, while Doug
found us very secure anchorage.
We had 9 boats participate:
Bubble Tender, George & Peggy
Schott
KiaOra, Don & Michele Clark
Makai, Rick & Mary Williamson
Our Boat, George & Jackie
Nigro
Port Ritchie, Doug & Judy Ritchie
Reel Happy, Mark & Happy
Jordan & guests
REFI-1, Jim & Liz Graham
Semper Fi, John & Debra Tornga
& Guests
Windsong, Victor Brunst &
Christine Benson
The best weather of the
weekend was Sunday and Monday, but the best party of the weekend was
definitely Saturday night. That can be attested to, because a
couple of the revelers, in pirates talk, walked the plank. In
laymen's talk they just fell overboard.
Sunday, after indulging in
mimosas we received a wonderful tour of the ranger facilities and
lighthouse guided by the local ranger, Chris Berner, that lives on the island.
Here are people that got to
see the Light House up close and personal.

The
weather is getting nice and the boating is getting more fun
This month
we had 3 cruising events.
We start out with a rafting
and anchoring presentation given by your cruising chairman George
Schott. It was held at the Dunedin Boat Club on
Wednesday April 7.
The following Saturday April 10, we
had a practice rafting session. Sailing vessel "Our Boat, captained
by George Nitro and crewed by Peggy Schott rafted up with the Motor
vessel "Bubble Tender" Captained by George Schott and crewed by no
one, which was already anchored off of Honey Moon Island. It
was performed very nicely by the "Our Boat" crew.
See the following video for
proof of concept:
April 2010 Rafting Video
On April 30 through May 2 we
had 3 boats represent the Dunedin Boat Club at Gulfport Municipal
marina. They were: the motor vessel
Kanani with Bill
and Carol Allen aboard, sailing vessel
Lemaya
with Manual and MaryEllen Farinas and motor
vessel REFI-1
with Jim and Liz Graham aboard.

Friday evening the crew was
joined by the Jay & Jackie Walston, Chris & Tracie Gattas, Victor
Brust and Christine Benson cruising in on their land yachts.
They all got together at the Havana Club for dinner.
On Saturday evening the crew
was joined by Clay and Dorothy Connors and George Schott for dinner
at Peg's a nice Italian/Mexican restaurant.

For
the 3rd Cruise of 2010
We
traveled to
Treasure Island Yacht Club
on
March 26,
27 & 28
The fleet
consisted of:
March Cruise Fleet Video
Bubble
Tender with George & Peggy Schott aboard

Fern
Blossoms with Clay & Dorothy Connor aboard

REFI-1 with
Jim & Liz Graham aboard

Friday
evening we had a cockpit party instead of a dock tail party.
And again there was too much food and drink all of it delicious.
On Saturday
while Dorothy was grading papers, the Grahams and Schotts hiked
their legs off all over Treasure Island, including a beach walk.
We had lunch at Sloppy Joe's, with a great beach view. On the
way back we enjoyed snagging bargains in the boutiques of T.I.
Saturday
evening Chris & Tracie Gattas and Paul & Sheila McCoy came by land
yacht and joined us for dinner at the Yacht Club. Everyone had
a lovely meal.
Sunday we
cruised home and Bubble Tender slipped into its home just as the
rain started to fall.

For
the 2nd Cruise of 2010
We will
be traveling to
Treasure Island Yacht Club.
The
cruise will be on
February 26, 27 & 28
The February cruise was
canceled, at the last minute, do to the oppressive onset of Northern
Weather.
The Treasure Island Yacht
Club cruise was rescheduled to be our March Cruise

To
kick off the 2010 Cruising Year
We will
be traveling to
Holiday Inn Harbourside. (Click
for map)
The
cruise will be on
January 29, 30 & 31
We can do one night
(Saturday) or two nights (Friday & Saturday). The slip fee is
$60 a night for 30 feet or less. Over 30 feet it is $2 a foot.
Water is included, but electric and cable TV are an additional $2 a
night. It should be a blast with two pools, 2 volleyball
courts, 1 tennis court, indoor miniature gulf, restaurants, Tiki bar
and etc... Put us all in an environment like that and it has
to be a blast in the making.
There are only about 14
slips available, but if a boat arrives with more aboard that the
boat will sleep, the extras can reserve rooms at the hotel and make
our impact even more significant.
Find your crew and sign up early. We
have to have slip commitments two weeks before the trip.
With everyone's natural party instincts we
can make this a cruising year that will set the standard and produce
the events, all good, that will be recorded with pictures and
memories and talked about for years to come.
